If you are like most people, you really value your home and everything in it. Most of us are proud of our homes, and are careful about who we share it with. This not only includes the residents, but any guests who come into the home too. This will, of course, include any service providers who you hire to carry out contracting work inside your home. If you have hired a cleaning contractor to undertake regular or once off cleaning in your house, there are certain things that you will want to keep your eye on to ensure that there is no damage to your property or other mishaps that are best to avoid.

The first and easiest thing that you can do is to try to avoid an unpleasant situation from the beginning. You can do this by thoroughly checking out the cleaning contractor before they begin work in your home. There are several avenues for this. Firstly, you should choose a reputable cleaning company from the get-go. This does not necessarily mean the largest company, but someone with a good reputation and good track record. If you can, look at a contractors testimonials from previous jobs. A testimonial is like a reference and will express the customer’s experience with the contractor. If the cleaner has many of these, then they have obviously had many happy customers and this is a very good sign. The other thing that you can do is to ask your friends and relatives if they have used a good cleaning contractor before. This kind of first hand information on who to use can be very useful.

A really good test that you can count on to distinguish a good cleaner from a bad one is to ask to see certification. Reputable cleaners will always have a form of certification that is valid in your state, and when they do it means that they have been through a lot to achieve it. It might be a general cleaning certification or it might be a more specific such as certification to carry out carpet cleaning. Finding someone who has this sort of paperwork for you to see will help you to find someone who will give you a higher quality of work – because they have been trained and tested to assure just that.

When you have already hired a cleaner, you should still keep checking on their work periodically, if they are there on a regular basis. You have probably hired a cleaning contractor because you are too busy to find time to carry out the cleaning tasks yourself. If so, then you might not think to take the time to check on their work. However, it is important that you do this. Any reputable cleaner will maintain a high standard of work over any given period of time – it is their job to do this and they will take pride in ensuring that your home is as clean as can be. But this, unfortunately, is not always the case. If the person you have hired is not that reputable then you might find that their work suddenly goes from acceptable to very poor. If this happens then you need to know about it straight away so that you can put an end to it. If there is no good reason for the change then you will probably need to terminate the relationship as soon as possible to ensure that the situation ends there, with no damage to your home or property. You will then be able to replace them with someone who can do a better job.

Do you trust your cleaning contractor? Just remember, this person is coming into your home, so you need to keep an eye on them. Making sure that they do the job they have been hired to do is important. By following the points listed above you will be able to hire a cleaning contractor that will not only do a good job, but respect your home while they are doing it.
